The Collapse of the Big Barn

Heavy snow and wind brought down the new barn at Taylor Farm on the night of February 7th. By some miracle, only two of the milking cows lost their lives.

All of the loot animals were trapped inside and had to be rescued one by one. Many, many people from the fire department, rescue squad and community worked long and hard to do what needed to be done. We are all tremendously indebted and grateful for your help.

If there was ever a time to express your support for Taylor Farm and the contributions Jon has made to the community, it is now. Without all of us pitching in together, Taylor Farm as we know it cannot survive this disaster.

Below is a gallery of photos taken a few days after the barn collapse. Please feel free to leave comments below.

This is terrible. What are your plans? Will you rebuild?

Hi Alger, with the help of many volunteers, Jon and the crew were able to get things cleaned up pretty quickly. Last week one section of the barn that was still in good shape was lifted back into place, and will be freestanding soon.

The goal is to have the barn completely rebuilt as soon as possible.

I’m very sorry to hear about your barn collapsing! That’s terrible! My family was planning a trip there in about a week’s time. Are you open for visitors? Thank you and God bless.

If there is any way we can help (from LI or Stratton) we would like to. I have posted your sleigh rides on our website and have more pictures to add, link is above. What are sleigh ride prices? May I bring my 5 year old grandson from FL over to see the animals this week, or is it all closed?

I am so sorry that I am just learning about this disaster. All my thoughts go to Jon and the whole Taylor Farm Family.

If there is any way we can help from Tucson, AZ and a limited budget please let me know! We have been ordering your cheese for a few years and buying it locally when we visit Vermont. I just watched your video on YouTube and loved it so much I came to your website to find this devastating news. I sincerely hope that you have had enough support to get everything cleaned up and running again. I hope that Spring is bringing new growth and prosperity to your farm.
